Systems Engineering

Systems Engineering looks at the whole problem. In many cases laying out a solid architecture in the beginning will make a large project easily successful. Similarly, making fundamental mistakes early may doom a project to failure no matter how diligent and brilliant the effort may be down the road. By looking at the full system our engineers start a project right, often times making the detail work very straight-forward. This is true for all systems projects: software, electronics, mechanical and, particularly, interdisciplinary problems.

Additionally, it is common that a particular issue can be almost impossible to solve in one discipline where another discipline may be able to solve it much more easily. For example, a fast feedback loop may be much too slow when implemented in software but very fast when build in hardware. Similarly, sensor hysterisis may be virtually impossible to remove from a sensor mechanically or electrically, but easily removed using software calibration. Failure to look across the disciplines invites disaster as easy problems can be unknowingly traded for much harder ones.
